1. Lexica Botanica
Crafting the lexica botanica is your first step in starting Botania. The Lexica Botania is the repository of all knowledge for all botanical matters. This will tell you how to start and do everything there is in this mod. You can use this to get started rather than the guide. |
2. Mystical flowers
Around the world, you may stumble upon a large variety of Mystical Flora. Spotting these doesn't take much work as the flowers themselves emit a fair amount of shine. Gather many of these as these flowers are the base crafting ingredient for many things. There are 16 types of these flowers, when you put them into a crafting grid they can be crafted into their respected color petal. |
5. Pure Daisy
Along with mystical flowers and petals, you will need living wood and living stone to get started. Because of these resources you need, the pure daisy will be your most invaluable flower. To craft it simply fill your petal apothecary with water and put four white petals in it, and a seed to finish it off. Once you place this flower on the ground it turns any adjacent wood or stone blocks into living wood and Livingstone respectively. |
6. Wand of the forest
Like any good magic mod, botania has a wand that is used to control the flow of mana. Whats mana? That will be explained below, first craft your wand using any color petal as shown. |
7. Mana
mana is the source of energy that powers all things in botania. Mana is produced through mana generating flowers. There are many flowers and a few basic ones to choose, but we will start with Endoflame's. Endoflames eat any burnable fuel source (we will use charcoal) and turns it into mana. To craft this flower put two brown petals, one red petal, and one white petal into the Petal Apothecary. You might want to make a few of these. |
8. Mana Manipulation
Now that you have flowers, if you feed the endoflames with a fuel source they will start producing mana. But where is it? The mana is trapped inside the flower and needs to be extracted using a Mana spreader. The Mana Spreader is the most important component in manipulating Mana. This is the block that allows Mana to travel from point A to point B. When this block is placed on the ground, it'll face one of 6 basic directions. By holding shift-right on it with a Wand of the Forest, one can orient it to the opposite of where it was clicked. It can be pointed to other blocks with a wand in Bind Mode. Craft a mana spreader and place it by or above your flower, and bind your flower to it. |
8. Where to store it?
Craft a mana pool. The Mana Pool is, simply put, a storage of Mana. Mana can be inserted into it by usage of a Mana Spreader, and any adjacent Mana Spreaders will pull mana from it to increase their internal buffer automatically. Right click the mana spreader with your wand of the forst then click the mana pool to have the spreader shoot mana into the pool. |
9. Crafting with mana
In order to craft items like mana pearls, mana steel, and a few other things you need to drop an item directly into the mana pool. If there is enough mana it will transform the item into its mana infused equivalent. Infuse a ender pearl with mana to create a mana pearl. |
10. Infusing with mana
Another thing you can do with mana that will come in very handy in Umbra arcana, is mana infusions. Craft a runic altar and point the mana spreaders at it to power it. Once you right click your "ingredients" onto the altar it will pop up with what you are trying to craft (provided the ingredients are correct) and show a little dial of it powering up with mana. Once its powered up fully blue lightning bolts will appear over the altar and its time to right click a piece of living stone on it and the infusion is complete! Follow the recipes in NEI for all the ore seeds and have fun restoring the world of the ore that was lost! |
